British filmmaker Peter Greenaway's projection onto Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper in Milan was unveiled in that city for one night only.

"On the occasion of Saloni 2008, Peter Greenaway gives new life to the world’s most celebrated masterpiece "The Last Supper" by Leonardo Da Vinci, merging an extraordinary wealth of languages including visual arts, cinema, poetry, music and some of the most cutting-edge new technologies.

"Leonardo’s masterpiece "The Last Supper" has survived both the fast natural ageing process caused by experimental painting techniques conceived by the artist and the many attempts to restore its initial aspect, as well as having outlasted bombings during World War II. The Biblical scene will come to new life under the spectator’s eyes thanks to live projections of images and light bouncing on the very painted surface, accompanied by a soundscape of voices, music and noises. The performance will take place in the Refectory of the Dominican Friary in Santa Maria delle Grazie Church: on the very wall of the refectory, Leonardo portrayed the moment when Christ announces one of the apostle will betray him, causing disruption and dismay among them."

I came to New York to study art history but the creative vibe of the top floor loft at 98 Bowery awakened my latent artistic ambitions. At first I tried painting, but when Mike Malloy exposed me to a new form of art rooted in exploring human psychology, I became an instant convert. Over the next decade I became a “conceptual artist” actively creating and exhibiting mixed media wall pieces, videotapes, and staging performances in America and Europe. Almost all of my art focused on people, their lives, thoughts and feelings. Most of the pieces involved the actual participation of people in the making of the art. Participants were asked to respond to words, make simple drawings, take photographs, or provide hand-written captions for photographic portraits. Some of the pieces dealt with the mundane realities of daily life; other works explored hot button issues like sex, money, religion and politics. They walked the thin line separating art and life. Because many of the participants were people I knew personally, the art was also a record of my own life.

Die Ausstellung versammelt ausgewählte Fanzines und Magazine aus den Bereichen Kunst, Fotografie, Comic, Illustration, Design, Architektur, Urbanismus oder Erotik. Die oftmals aufwendig gestalteten Magazine erscheinen nur in geringer Auflage und unabhängig von den großen Vertriebswegen.

Zur Eröffnung am 2. März 2010 findet eine Magazin-Messe mit zahlreichen Magazinmachern aus Deutschland und der Schweiz statt.

Eine Jury bestehend aus Ale Dumbski (Radar - International Independent Filmfestival), Heike Grebin (Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg), Karsten Henning (ART - Das Kunstmagazin) und Florian Waldvogel (Kunstverein Hamburg) wird am 5. März 2010 im Rahmen des Live-Magazins den GuteSeiten Award 2010 für das beste unabhängige Magazin vergeben.
